Driggs approved extending the existing Victor/Driggs bike path north of town. This will help provide safe passage to the Middle School, the airport, and the Kings/Subway shopping area, behind which a number of apartments reside. The hope is that this will be another step towards completing a bike path from Driggs to Tetonia – a missing link in the bike path that connects Victor, ID to West Yellowstone, MT.
The eventual plan is to create a bike path around the Yellowstone Grand Teton Loop. This would provide visitors and locals alike to bike full circle from Victor, ID through Driggs, West Yellowstone, the sw corner of Yellowstone Park, Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, WY before coming over Teton Pass and back to Victor. The pieces are slowly coming together and eventually should provide access completely free of the major roadways through a combination of using rails-to-trails paths, the old pass road and building new bike paths.
It should take about one week to bike the circuit. Hopefully this will tap into a whole new set of visitors and provide locals with a unique ‘stay-cation” opportunity.
